Age Limits

Okay well for me to catch up im gunna have to read a lot of posts so i will shove my two bits in right here.......
As some of you know i finished year 12 last year, which means most of the people would have been 17/18, anywayz about 5 people left because they were having a baby. I couldn't believe it, half of them didn't even have boyfriends.
Anyway thats my spill on teen pregnancy.

Ok but you didnt give your thoughts on weather you think the age limits on things such as drinking , driving etc should be increased or decreased.

i have no doubt that if the gov. doesn't want
something happening, they have the means to
prevent it... and keep it from happening...
by any means necessary.

back to the article--

i agree with zela. the alcohol is (and has always
been, along with drugs, speeding etc) a scapegoat
for the individual and their values.

think of matches.... they are easily accessible
to anyone of any age for the most part. they
have the ability to cause great damage to
persons and property...
yet, they aren't regulated in sale etc. (notice
i didn't say anything about lighters or
aim-n-flames)... but kids can easily pick up
matchbooks and shit from restaurants etc.

now, the argument could be made that the matches
do not affect a persons mentality or cognition.
bingo....

though we are instructed or persueded at an early
age that matches cause fire and therefore have
the potential to cause MAJOR harm...

But replace 'stick in your hand' with 'alcohol/drugs/whatever' and 'plenty of other sticks' with 'matches and stuff'.

Well the age for driving shouldn't be increased, because i have only had my licence for a couple of months, but i think fines for speeding and drink driving should be increased as the road toll at the moment for Victoria alone is something like 220. That might not seem like much to you guys but Victoria isn't a big place.

Drinking, well i dunno.....i don't really have any thoughts on that.

Voting, well like shatzy (i think) said, if your old enough to be earning money and get taxed, then you should be old enough to vote.

220 deaths, most invloving people under 30, most due to alcohol, drugs and speeding.

Its pretty small, compared to the other states, have a look on a atlas or something
